Abstract

102,079. Green, E. Lycett-. Feb. 10, 1916. Vehicular lanterns; lantern shutters.- A head-light 1 for motor-vehicles is provided with a long tube 4 placed horizontally in front of the lens in order to shield the light and to assist in projecting it on the road at a suitable distance. In the form shown, the lamp 1 and the tube 4 are mounted in fixed brackets 3, 5 beneath the car, and the front end of the tube is provided with a hinged flap 7, which is held open by a depending weight 9 and can be partly or entirely closed by means of a Bowden-wire control 10. In a modification, the tube 4 is mounted to swivel about its rear end.
