Abstract

1,020,665. Pipe couplings. L. ADAMS Ltd. Jan. 19, 1965 [Feb. 14, 1964], No. 6259/64. Heading F2G. A quick-release coupling comprises parts 1 and 6 bored and formed with a number of locking lands 5, the part 6 being rotatably mounted with respect to the part 1 and being biased by springs 9 so that in the normal or operative position, the lands on the part 6 are out of alignment with those of the part 1, whereby a pipe is locked in the coupling. As shown, the part 6 is formed with arcuate slots 7 through which pass screws 8, the shanks of the screws acting as stops to limit relative rotational movement of the parts. The part 6 is rotated to bring the lands 5 into alignment and a pipe is inserted into the bore of the part 1; the part 6 when released, and under the action of the springs 9, locks the pipe in the coupling.
