[Also in Divisions B5 and E1] A sound absorbing structure comprises a support 11 to which are secured a plurality of similarly shaped slats 10, adjacent slats being in contact along the bottom portions of their side walls 14, 15, the side walls being so formed that when two slats are brought together, a resonance chamber 24 and slot 25 of substantially smaller width than the chamber 24 are formed therebetween. The bottom portions of the side walls may be interconnected by interlocking formations 17, 21. The slats may be made of wood, bonded wood chips, plywood, metal or synthetic resin.
