Abstract
A leno shedding motion, more particularly for a circular loom, has a vertically reciprocable upper heald frame 7 with standard healds 5, 6 and a vertically reciprocable lower heald frame 10 having at least two leno healds 8, 9 which are transversely movable to either side of the standard healds 5, 6 respectively. The lower heald frame 10 is movable by rods 11, 12 (Plan view, Fig. 20, not shown) to which is clamped a bracket 17 having the leno healds 8, 9 which are attached to a slide 21 transversely movable on a shaft 18 in the bracket 17. The slide 21 has a head 22 having an axially slidable pin 25 which runs in cam tracks 33, 35 and 37 provided in stationary members 31, 32. The members 31, 32 are identical so that when assembled face-to-face cam tracks (Fig. 7 not shown) are formed; the top of each straight track 33 has an inclined riser 39 (Figs. 8 and 10 not shown). With the parts as illustrated in Fig. 20 (not shown) and the lower heald frame raised as in Fig. 16 (not shown) the operation is as follows:- the frame 10 lowers, the pin 25 rides in the track 35 of the member 31 and then in track 37 to the base of track 33 causing the slide 21 and leno healds 8, 9 to move transversely to the right: the frame 10 rises and the pin 25 rides vertically upwards in the track 33 until it contacts the riser 39 when it is moved axially from the track 33 of the member 31 to the top of the track 35 of the member 32: the frame 10 lowers and the pin 25 rides in the track 35 and then in the track 37 to the base of the track 33 causing the slide 21 and healds 8, 9 to move to the right: the frame 10 rises and the pin 25 rides vertically upwards in the track 33 until it contacts the riser 39 when it is axially moved to the top of the track 35 of the member 31, one cycle then being complete.
