Abstract

1,020,110. Overhead travelling cranes. SOC. NAZIONALE DELLE OFFICIONE DI SAVIGLIANIO. Nov. 11, 1964 [Feb. 22, 1964], No. 46037/64. Heading B8B. The crab 4 of an overhead travelling crane having one main girder lc runs on rails 6, 18 which are engaged by wheels 5, 7, 8. The wheels 7 prevent the crab from tilting. Supports 17 for the rail 18 are attached to the beam at the same points as strengthening plates 20. The wheels 8 may be omitted if the centre of gravity of the crab falls outside the wheel 5 at all times. In a second embodiment the wheels 8 may run on a third rail mounted directly on top of the beam, Fig. 5 (not shown). A ladder 15 provides access to the crab from a catwalk 16.
