Abstract

<PICT:1019433/C4-C5/1> An electroluminescent device comprises (a) a transparent plate 16, e.g. glass or plastic, (b) a transparent electrode 28, e.g. tin oxide, gold or antimony, (c) an electroluminescent layer 32, e.g. zinc sulphide, (d) a plurality of assemblies 34 each consisting of several electrodes 36, and (e) a base-plate 38 carrying conductive metal pins 20, 19 to the electrodes 28, 36. The pins 20, 19 may have conductive rubber tips 231, 23, and be held in contact with the electrode by a seal 40, e.g. of wax or epoxy resin.
