Abstract
1,018,877. Measuring liquid conductivity. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. June 22, 1964 [Aug. 6, 1963], No. 30945/63. Heading G1N. Apparatus for measuring the conductivity of low conductivity liquids such as liquid hydro carbons, comprises a pair of electrodes in a sample cell 1 the container of which may constitute a Faraday cage an electrometer 4 and contacts 10, 11, which are operated by a sequence controller firstly to apply an H.T. source 9 to both the electrodes and the electrometer, secondly to disconnect the source leaving the cell and electrometer coupled and finally to open that circuit between the cell and the electrometer. The final electrometer reading is a function of the stored energy that has leaked away, i.e. a function of the conductivity of the sample Capacitors 5-7 may be selectively connected in parallel with the cell for rough changing purposes.
