Abstract
1,018,281. Supply systems for consumption apparatus. B. HOLDSWORTH. Aug. 8, 1963 [Aug. 10, 1962], No. 30806/62. Heading H2H. An electrical installation wherein the current flow is prevented from rising above a predetermined value comprises two relays 15, 16 connected in parallel with one another and in series with a manually operable switch 19 and a load 22 the relay 15 being of the thermally operated type and of low impedance whilst the relay 16 is an electromagnetic relay and normally having a high impedance, the arrangement being such that when the current in the load 22 rises above the predetermined value, the thermal relay is operated to open contacts 26, 30 whereupon all the current passes through the coil 27 of relay 16 thus attracting the armature 29 to move the contact 30 away from contact 26 and at the same time increasing the impedance of the relay 16 to a value greater than that of the two relays together thereby limiting the load current to the predetermined value. The installation is returned to its normal condition by opening the manually operable switch 19. Alternatively the heater coil 24 of the relay 15 may be connected in series with the coil 27 of the relay 16.
