Abstract

1,017,238. Cigarette-making machines. K. KÍRBER. June 17, 1963 [June 15, 1962], No. 23101/62. Heading A2C. A rotary cutter head for a cigarette making machine for severing a continuous rod into cigarette portions comprises a rotary cutter 96 carried by a spindle 88 rotatably mounted about an axis radial of the head and including a thrust bearing, a balance weight 881 being mounted on the spindle on the opposite side of the thrust bearing to the cutter, the balance weight being fixed to the spindle and adapted to participate in the movements thereof. The balance weight rests against a spring clip 882 and is fastened in place by screws 883. The invention is described and shown as applied to a rotary cutter head embodying a Cardan joint as described in Specification 982,298.
