Abstract

1,016,131. Fabric coating apparatus. A. J. C. De O. BARROS. Jan. 29, 1962 [Feb. 2, 1962], No. 3933/61. Heading D1L. [Also in Division B6] Distortion or bowing of a hollow stencil cylinder used for coating fabrics etc. and having a stencilling shell (not shown) mounted on end plates 1, 2, is prevented by a roller 3 which is rotatably mounted within the cylinder to contact the inner shell surface thereof and is backed by three support rollers 6 engaging the surface of the roller 3 along a line which id diametrically opposite to the line of contact between the roller 3 and the cylinder. Each roller 6 is mounted in bearings 7 on a stubshaft 8 which is adjustably mounted through setscrews 10. In a rotary printing machine in which each side of a material is printed on by cylinders (not shown) enclosing respective rollers 12,13, Fig. 2, each roller 12, 13 is backed by support rollers 14. The support rollers 3 or 14 may be arranged in single row axial alignment as shown or in two spaced parallel rows, the rollers then being grouped in pairs one from each row.
