Abstract
1,015,855. Electromagnetic relays. H. SAUER. April 27, 1964 [April 26, 1963], No. 17309/64. Heading H2B. The armature of an electromagnetic relay is pivoted at its centre of gravity within the operating winding. In Fig. 1 (not shown) one end of the armature 9 is movable between a pair of permanent magnets 10 which are pressed against plates 8 by the side walls 7 of magnetic frame 2 and are located beneath a pair of ridges 6 formed in the end cheeks of the winding former 1. The two plates 8 support the spindle 5 of the armature. Screws 3 which engage the magnetic frame 2 and one plate 8 or the other plate 8 and a platform 11 retain the parts in position. A glass bead 15 carried by the armature actuates a change-over contact set 13, 14 mounted on a base 18 of magnetic material. The magnets 10 act in the same sense, their flux paths being shown in dotted lines, so that the armature movement depends on direction of current in the winding. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the former is located in a slot 41 in the base and a recess 21 in a magnetic cross-piece 24 by projections 40, 21 in its end cheeks. The armature is biased by a spring 25 whose bias is adjusted by lugs 29. The armature actuates a change-over contact set by means of spring 30 carrying insulating studs 37. The spring may be non-magnetic to prevent sticking, or steel if high holding forces are required.
