Abstract

101,584. Dehn, F. B., (Rosen, N. M.). March 22, 1916. Bodies, forming; with gutter-shaped brim.- A hat body is formed from a stiffened openmeshed fabric 10, Fig. 1, the crown being encircled at top and bottom by wires 12 laid in casings 13. The brim is provided with a circular " fly " 16 of the same material, sewn to the brim at 17 and forming an open gutter into which the covering-material 18 is tucked. The edges of the covering-material are either sewn together before being tucked in, or they are sewn to the brim on the inside only, as shown in Fig. 1, or the securing-stitches are made to pass through the cover, the brim, and also the turned-in edges. A stiffening-wire 14 is sewn either into the gutter, as shown in Fig. 1, or to one extreme edge of the brim, as shown at 19, Fig. 5. This gives a corded effect when the cover has been applied.
