1,015,777. Spectrophotometric arrangements. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. July 8, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No. 26925/63. Heading G1A. An installation for the spectrophotometric quantitative analysis of radioactive solutions comprises a screened enclosure 1 impervious to alpha, beta and gamma radiations and equipped with remote controlled tongs (not shown) for example acting through rotary joints 2, the said enclosure communicating via an air lock with a second enclosure 3 containing the radioactive solutions to be tested, an auxiliary enclosure 9 separated from operating personnel by a protective screen, the enclosure 9 communicating with the interior of the enclosure 1 by an aperture 10, a spectrophotometer 11, a casing 12 impervious to alpha radiation having a single opening, the edges of which form a joint with the edges of the aperture 10, the light beam of the spectrophotometer 11 passing through windows in the casing 12, and also remotely controllable means 25 for moving tanks 14 containing solutions to be tested from the interior of the screened enclosure 1 to the interior of the casing 12, whence it is transported by a lift 25, Fig. 3, to a position where the sample in holder 26 is in the optical axis of the photometer. When the lift rises further, the pins 30 contact rollers 31 and lift tips about the axis 27 to bring a reference chamber into the light path.
