Abstract

1,015,369. Bearings. J. R. COOPER. Nov. 10, 1964 [Nov. 12, 1963], No. 44606/63. Heading F2A. A cap or seal, for protecting and preserving a ball or roller bearing against the ingress of foreign matter and rust during storage, has a spigot 6 which is received by the bore of the inner race of the bearing and a dish-shaped portion 4 having a rim 7 which engages either an annular face 8 of a housing 1 or a bore 9 thereof. The rim 7 forms a cavity 5, the spigot 6 may be hollow and both may contain grease or other preservative. The cap, which may be made of synthetic plastics material, has a tab 12 which facilitates insertion and removal thereof.
