The shaving head of a dry shaver comprises a cutter having an end face in slidable contact with a perforated shear plate and having at one or each side thereof teeth formed with a series of parallel troughs and intervening crests with planar surfaces which intersect the end face of the cutter to define a zigzag cutting edge, the or each side of the cutter being undercut and inclined at an obtuse angle to the direction of motion of the cutter. As shown in Fig. 4, the sides of an oscillatory cutter 54 are formed with inclined troughs 82 and intervening crests 84 having planar surfaces 98 which intersect the surface 90 of the end face of the cutter to form shearing edges 94, 96. The troughs and crests at their lines of intersection with the surface 90 form shearing teeth 100 presenting tooth edges 102 which provide tooth crests 104 and troughs 106. The teeth 100 co-operate with the shearing edges 74, Fig. 5, of perforations 72 in shear plate 62. In a modification, Figs. 11 to 14 (not shown), the cutter is of rotary form and in another modification, Figs. 15 to 18 (not shown), it is of reciprocating form.
