Abstract

537,749. Dry shavers. MARTIN BROS. ELECTRIC CO. Feb. 2, 1940, No. 2054. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1939. [Class 131] The shear plate 14 of a dry shaver is provided with lateral walls 16, side corrugations 17, curved portions 20 and cross walls 19 which are provided with slots 24 varying in width from one side to the other and arranged alternately as shown in Fig. 2. The walls 26 of the slots are inclined to provide sharp cutting edges to co-operate with the teeth 38 of the reciprocating cutter 35. The upper surface 22 of the cross wall is concave while the lower surface is plane to coact with the cutter. The narrow ends of the slots 24 terminate in grooves 27 and the upper surface 22 of the cross walls 19 are provided with steps 18 which act as combs for the hairs to be shaved. The shear plate is mounted in a head 10 preferably in a duplicate manner providing a channel 21 between the plates.
