Abstract

A composition for use in forming a zinc oxychloride coating (which composition may be either, or both, the zinc oxide-containing composition or the zinc chloride-containing composition) contains dichlorophen (5,51-dichloro-2,21 dihydroxy diphenyl methane) as a preventive against fungi, algae and bacteria. To make a paint, one constituent may comprise zinc oxide, talc, whiting and dichlorophen, and to make a plaster, that component may comprise zinc oxide, whiting, sand and dichlorophen; the second component in either case may comprise an aqueous solution of zinc chloride containing boric acid and ammonium chloride as reaction retarder. Polyvinyl acetate emulsion may be added to the zinc chloride solution.ALSO:A composition for use in forming a zinc oxychloride coating (which composition may be either, or both, the zinc oxide-containing composition or the zinc chloride-containing composition) contains dichlorophen (5,51-dichloro-2,21-dihydroxy diphenyl methane) as a preventive against fungi, algae and bacteria. To make a paint, one constituent may comprise zinc oxide, talc, whiting and dichlorophen, and to make a plaster, that component may comprise zinc oxide, whiting, sand and dichlorophen: the second component in either case may comprise an aqueous solution of zinc chloride containing boric acid and ammonium chloride as reaction retarder. Polyvinyl acetate emulsion may be added to the zinc chloride solution.
