Abstract

In the production of short, e.g. 0.3-0.5 mm., fibres, twisted or untwisted continuous filament or staple fibre yarn of glass or slag is seized between rollers and fed thereby into an enclosed space, e.g. within a stuffer-box crimper, containing compressed broken yarn which exerts a constant pressure on the inconing yarn sufficient to ensure that the yarn is continuously folded, broken and compressed in the space.ALSO:In the production of short e.g. 0.3-0.5 mm., fibres, twisted or untwisted continuous filament or staple fibre yarn of brittle material e.g. glass or slag, is seized between rollers and fed thereby into an enclosed space e.g. within a stuffer-box crimper, containing compressed broken yarn which exerts a constant pressure on the incoming yarn sufficient to ensure that the yarn is continuously folded, broken, and compressed in the space.
