Abstract

A process for the production of adenosine, hypoxanthine, 51-adenylic acid, inosinic acid and/or adenosine triphosphate comprises culturing an adenine-requiring auxotroph of Bacillus subtilis in a culture containing adenine. Reference is also made to the use of cell-free extracts and washed mycelium of the organism.
