Abstract
4 - Amino - 2:6 - dichloro - pyrimidine is made by heating 4 - amino - 2:6 - dihydroxypyrimidine with 4 to 12 (preferably 11) parts by weight of phosphorous oxychloride and 0.2 to 1.5 (preferably 0.3) parts of dimethylaniline at 70 DEG to 130 DEG C., preferably at 80 DEG to 100 DEG C. The product is worked up by removing the excess phosphorus oxychloride and treating with water.
