Abstract

Process for the prepn. of nicotinamide-adenine-dinucleotide (I):- by fermentation of bacteria of genus Brevibacterium, Corynebacterium, Arthrobacter, and Micrococcus and isolation of (I) from the culture filtrates. The bacteria are grown in the presence of (a) a cpd. selected from nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, nicotinic mononucleotide, nicotinic acid riboside, nicotinamide riboside, and nicotinic acid-adenine-dinucleotide, and (b) a cpd. chosen from adenine, adenosine, and adenine mono-, di-, and tri-phosphates. (I) plays an important role in biochemical processes and is useful in glucose fermentation.
