Abstract

3-Methylthiopropylamine is prepared by culturing a micro-organism of the genus Streptomyces under aerobic conditions in an aqueous nutrient medium containing methionine, at 20-40 DEG C., and a pH of 5-9.5, or by reacting methionine or a substance containing it with an enzyme produced by a micro-organism of the genus Streptomyces. The methionine may be introduced before or after the start of culturing.
