Abstract

A composition comprises 80-98 parts of a vinyl chloride polymer containing at least 75% vinyl chloride, and 2-20 parts of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 7-40% and a melt indes of substantially 0.1 to 200 g./10 min., the composition having an Izod impact strength of at least 1.5 ft.-lb. per inch. The vinyl chloride polymer may be the homopolymer, or a copolymer containing up to 25% of ethylenically unsaturated monomers such as vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile, ethyl acrylate, vinylidene chloride and diethyl maleate. 0.2-4 parts of chlorinated polyethylene may be added per part of the ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer. The composition may also include stabilizers such as tin mercaptide or hydrous tribasic lead sulphate, lubricants such as stearic acid or its magnesium or calcium salts, fillers and colouring agents.
