[Also in Division E1] In a pneumatic conveyer such as a gobstowing machine having a conveyer 1 and feeder 3 driven by electric motors 2, 7<SP>1</SP> a pressuresensitive device 12 for controlling the motors is arranged in the air supply pipeline 7. The arrangement is such that a rise in pressure caused by blockages in the conveyer line 8<SP>11</SP> causes the motors to be stopped, or slowed down, until the line has been cleared. An air flow valve 8 is also controlled by the device 12 and operates to increase the flow of air to clear blockages. In the event of a large drop in pressure as occurs when the conveyer line is empty of solid material the whole plant may be automatically shut down. A water spray 8<SP>1</SP> for damping down dust may also be shut-off by a valve 10 under the control of the device 12 so that no water is supplied when the air is cut-off. A safety manual over-ride may be provided to prevent automatic restarting of the plant after shut-down.
