Abstract
1,013,172. Foldable motor-cycles. S. J. BURWELL. Dec. 17, 1962, No. 47684/62. Heading B7E. The motor-cycle of Fig. 1 may be collapsed into suit-case form, Fig. 3, by first releasing the catches 38, Fig. 4, which hold the body sides 33, 34 together, and then pivoting inwardly the front and rear wheel assemblies and foldable pedals 46 about fixed brackets 39, 56, the handle bars 22, Fig. 6, having been pivoted downwardly on ears 21 on the front wheel forks after releasing a holding screw 23. In the Fig. 1 position the sides 33, 34 encompass and hold fast spools 42, 59 on the wheel assemblies, and the covered saddle 74 is provided with metal inserts 75 having spring forks which clip into cut-outs 76, Fig. 12. The front pivot forks 28 are pivoted to cross-shafts in the pivoted channel members 31, and in the operative position are held locked by a spring- biased catch 48, Fig. 3 and Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown).
