A multi-compartment receptacle having outer and inner compartments has a pneumatic closure comprising: a frame forming inner and outer throats; inflatable bags mounted to the frame and arranged to seal the throats when inflated; and valved conduit means leading to the bags for introduction or release of gas. The receptacle, Fig. 1, has outer and inner walls 1, 5 of fabric reinforced rubber defining the two compartments 6, 7, and is provided with a pneumatic closure A. The closure, Fig. 2, comprises a frame with outer and inner rings 11, 23 joined by rods 22. Mounted in the closure is a cylinder 28, provided with a valve 31 for introducing compressed air and a one shot release valve 32. The cylinder is in communication through a boss 35 to an annular rubber bag 33 secured to the cylinder, and through a pipe 42 to a similar outerbag 38 secured to the inner ring. When the bags are inflated the outer bag engages the ring 11 to seal the throat of the outer compartment, while the throat of the inner compartment is sealed by engagement of the two bags. In the embodiment of Fig. 6, the inner compartment is sealed when the inner bag 65 engages the ring 54; and the release valve 80 is on the outer ring. The contents may be discharged when the receptacle is inverted and hung by the hook 9, Fig. 1, and the bags deflated to the position shown by dashed lines in Fig. 6.
