Abstract

1,012,533. Track apparatus. COMPAGNIE DES FREINS ET SIGNAUX WESTING- HOUSE. Feb. 6, 1964 [March 15, 1963], No. 5042/64. Heading B7N. [Also in Division H4] An inductive signalling system for selectively transmitting -signals of different frequencies graded in frequency in accordance with their order of priority, e.g. to a remote signal beacon or a railway locomotive, is provided with means for remote control of the frequency selecting circuits and is arranged so that in the event of failure of the frequency selecting arrangements the signal frequency is determined by a tuned circuit at the remote point and is a frequency which corresponds to a signal of higher or the highest priority. As shown in Fig. 2, resonant circuit C5, 5<SP>1</SP> is tuned to the frequency representing the highest priority and is coupled via an inductor 5 to a plurality of capacitors 4, to 4n which are selectively switched into circuit by switches I 1 to In as required. An amplifier 8 is coupled via windings 6, 7 to the circuit C5, 5<SP>1</SP> and oscillates at the frequency selected by the switches, or failing that, at the frequency determined by the circuit C5, 5<SP>1</SP>. The switches I 1 &c. control the control windings 12, to 12n of saturable reactors 3 1 to 3n. The arrangement is such that with switch I 1 operated all the capacitors are effectively in series and with switch In operated only capacitor 4n is connected, a transistor switch T being operated when any of the switches I 1 &c. is operated. Diodes 22 to 22n isolate the various circuits. In a modification the transistor switch is replaced by a further saturable reactor and the diodes 22 &c. are dispensed with. The switches I 1 &c. and battery S may be in a box at a control point remote from the switched circuits.
