1,012,394. Screw conveyers; trimming granular material heaps. BRITISH COAL UTILISATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, and W. L. RIVETT. Jan. 23, 1964, No. 2910/63. Headings B8A and B8E. Apparatus for trimming or feeding a heap of granular material comprises an unenclosed screw conveyer swingable about a pivot at one end by a paddle wheel, of greater diameter than the screw, mounted at the end remote from the pivot and drivable at a slower speed. The shaft of the screw is hollow and mounts the drive shaft to the paddle wheel and the two drive shafts may be driven by a single motor through gearing which may be controlled to reverse the drive of the paddle wheel at desired positions. The paddle wheel may be in the form of a drum with flat blades, rods or spikes attached. The screw may be mounted on a horizontal pivot to allow limited up and down movement.
