1,065,700. Loading refuse vehicles; rotary conveyers. R. A. ROUGEMONT. Dec. 31, 1963 [Jan. 4, 1963]. No. 51365/63. Headings B8A and B8E. Refuse is fed into a vehicle from a shoot O by a drum a provided with blades c rotated to break and ram the material as it is fed. The drum is mounted on a shaft b driven by a mechanism n at one or both ends and the blades are retractable in grooves into the drum between points c3 and c1 in order to pass under a retaining wall s. The reciprocation of the blades is effected by a double-acting fluidoperated jack f controlled by a reversal device r operated by stop members q placed to effect protrusion and retraction at the desired positions c1, c3. If an obstruction is met by the blades the jack f will yield allowing it to be passed. The position of the jack f and the blade operating linkage may be varied.
