Abstract
Acrylonitrile polymer compositions contain flame-retarding agents such as halogenated long chain fatty acid esters, aliphatic phosphates, halogenated aliphatic phosphates, and polymeric vinyl and vinylidene halides. Specified compositions contain, dissolved in dimethyl acetamide, (1) polyvinyl chloride, antimony trioxide and a blend of a copolymer of acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate with a copolymer of acrylonitrile and methylvinyl pyridine; (2) tris-(beta-chloroethyl) phosphate and a copolymer of acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate; (3) tri-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate and a blend of copolymer of acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate with a copolymer of acrylonitrile and methylvinyl pyridine; (4) chlorinated methyl stearate and a copolymer of acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate. The compositions are wet-spun on to fibres (see Division B5).
