Abstract

1480125 Pesticide/polymer compositions DOW CHEMICAL CO 7 Feb 1975 [7 Feb 1974] 5317/75 Heading A5E [Also in Division C3] Articles such as. tubes, bags, combs, brushes, bird cage trays and cable jackets are made of pesticidal thermoplastic polymer compositions prepared by mixing preformed pieces of the thermoplastic polymer with a low-melting organic pesticidal additive and maintaining the mixture at a temperature above the melting point of the pesticidal additive but below the softening point of the polymer pieces until the pesticidal additive has been completely absorbed into the polymer pieces. The resulting composition may be blended with further polymer. In examples 0, 0-diethyl-0-3, 5, 6- trichloro-2-pyridyl phosphorothioate, 0, 0-dimethyl-0-2, 4, 5-trichlorophenyl phosphorothioate, 4-t-butyl-2-chlorophenyl methyl methylphosphoramidate, 0, 0-diethyl-0-4-t. butylthio- 2-methylphenyl phosphorothioate, dimethyl 3, 5, 6-trichloro-2-pyridyl phosphate and 4-diethylamino-3, 5-xylyl methyl carbamate are incorporated in polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated polyethylene, copolymers of ethylene with vinyl acetate, isobutyl acrylate and acrylic acid, ethyl cellulose and Bisphenol A polycarbonate.
