Abstract
101,093. Riviere e Hijos, F. (Firm of). July 3, 1915, [Convention date]. Making wire netting; twisting wires together.- In a machine for making wire netting, the pairs of wires brought together are twisted by pinions having a narrow slot to hold the wires or a pin which passes between the wires, so that the twist cornprises two oppositely twisted portions separated by an untwisted portion or by a supplementary mesh shaped by the pin. The wires 8 - - 15 are carried by slides 1, 2 moved alternately in opposite directions a distance equal to half the distance between the wires so as to bring the wire 13, for instance, alternately opposite the wires ]2, 10. When the slides reach either extreme position, the slide 4 carrying the pinions 20, 21, 22 advances to engage the wires in the slots 18, and the pinions are then rotated by the rack.bar 5. Before the advance of the slide 4, it must be moved laterally to correspond to the new positions of the pairs of wires to be twisted, and this is preferably effected by mounting the slide 4 between guides 61, Fig. 5, on the slide 1. The movement of the slides 1, 2 may be effected by a cam 46, Fig. 4, on the shaft 42 operating a lever 47, which is connected by a link 53 and a pin 54 to the slide 2 and to a slotted disk 55, Fig. 5. the second slot of which engages a pin 59 on the slide 2. The advance of the slide 4 may be effected by a cam 28, Fig. 6, on the shaft 39 operating a lever 63, the weight of this effecting the return movement. The movement of the rack 5 may be effected by a cam 37, Fig. 7, on the shaft 42, which engages, at intervals in its rotation, the lever 29. The finished netting is engaged by a pin roller to draw the wires through the slides 1, 2 after each twist is effected.
