Abstract

101,050. Ayer, G. A. Feb. 14, 1916. Breast beams; take-up motions.-In a loom in which temples are employed, thereby imposing greater tension upon the warps at the selvedges than upon the intermediate warps, means, such as a curved bar on the breast beam, are provided for progressively increasing the tension upon the warps from the selvedges towards the centre, whereby the resultant tension upon all the warps is uniform and the wefts are caused to lie in straight lines normal to the selvedges. As shown, the curved bar 10 is provided with inclined straight portions 11, 12 and is attached to the front of the breast beam 5. The cloth passes over the bar 10 and a tension roller 13, with a cylindrical portion 14, preferably roughened, and conical end portions 15, to the take-up roll 4, whence it passes over an idle roller 16 to the cloth beam 3. The roller 13 is supported in brackets 15<a> secured to the end frame or the breast beam, and the roller 16 on arms 17 pivoted to brackets 18.
