` This invention relates tc looms for weaving and has tor its object to provide improved arrangements tor adjust-ment tor ditierent widths ot cloth to be woven.

The invention consists in a loom tor weaving in' which the cloth temples are adjustably mounted on a bar.

The invention also consists in other details hereinafter indicated.

The accompanying drawings illustrate one mode of carrying out the invention Figure l is a more or less diagrammatic plan showing the breast beam and sley ot an automatic weft replenishing loom with parts mounted and arranged thereon in accordance with the invention;

Figure 2 is a plan of the temples shown in Figure l, the cover being removed trom one, and

Figure 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Figure 2.

In carrying our inventioninto effect we may apply our improvements to existing looms or to looms specially built for the purpose, and such looms may, it desired, be provided with the usual accessories incidental to wett replenishing looms.

The cloth temples a tor maintaining the cloth stretched are adjust-ably mounted upon a bar or other support 7) so that they may be readily adjusted :tor dil'lerent widths of cloth to he woven, and we prefer that the rollers c ot the temple (which may or may not be conical) shall be set at an angle to one another (as shown in Figure 2), while the tongue Z ot the temple cover which passes down between the rollers is also somewhat inclined and in this way a better tension will be maintained upon the cloth.

The depth of the tongue increases at the end ot the temple where the distance between the axes ot the rollers c is greatest. The cloth, as usual, is passed over the roller at one side ot each temple, under the tongue (l and over the roller at the opposite side of the temple. l

The tongue CZ, when the temples are used in connection with medium and heavy cloths, acts to hold the selvedges tightly owing to the tongue pressing deeper between the two inclined rollers c than has previously been the case with the result that the weaving is better and better selvedges are obtained.

The arrangement also enables us to provide an improved form ot temple wett cutter which consists 'of a circular blade or knife e or other like ring cutter vfitted on to one ot the r ller pins at the outside end of the roller, such improved construction of temple and temple cutter enabling the temples to be fixed very near tothe fell of the cloth, which ensures good weaving.

lt will be understood that the invention is not to be limited to the foregoing details ot construction which are given by way ot example only, nor :is it to be limited to any particular type or construction of Vweft replenishing or other loom to which it is to be applied.

laving now described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is ln a loom for weaving, a temple including a pair of spaced rollers, the axes of said rollers being inclined to each other, a cover tor said rollers, and a longitudinal tongue on said ccver disposed between said rollers and increasing in depth in the direction. of increase in the dist-ance between the inclined rollers.
