An air humidifier comprises an electric tubular heater 16 surrounded by tube 15 containing water supplied from a storage tank 3 via an opening 11 in the neck of the storage tank, a reservoir 12 and a connecting pipe 13, the water vapour produced in the tube 15 being withdrawn through a pipe 18 by a fan 21 and discharged into the air to be humidified. When the storage tank 3 is removed for re-filling the opening 11 is closed by a spring-loaded valve 10.
