Abstract

1,009,604. Humidifier. OXYGENAIRE (LONDON) Ltd. Aug. 9, 1963 [May 11, 1962], No. 18317/62. Heading B1R. A humidifier for supplying air of controlled humidity comprises a casing divided into an upper and a lower compartment by a plate 13, the upper compartment containing an electrically heated element 29 disposed in a channelsectioned porous element 23 moistened by a capillary member 26 dipping into water contained within a tube 28 supplied from a tank 7, and the lower compartment containing a fan driving a stream of air to be humidified into the upper compartment where it is mixed with water vapour produced by the heating element and leaves by an outlet 21. The porous element 23 and the capillary member 26 may be of fused pumice and integral or connected parts. A thermostat 34 controls the temperature in the upper compartment and a valve for controlling the amount of water supplied to the tube 28 from the tank 7 may be provided The tank 7 may be disconnected and is preferably of translucent or transparent material.
