Abstract

1,010,367. Shut-off dampers for gas-fired appliances. A. DIERMAYER,andL.KUTZNER Dec. 9, 1963 [Dec. 12, 1962], No. 48445/63. Heading F4W. A shut-off damper 4 for closing the outlet 2 to the flue from a gas-fired appliance is constituted at least in part by a heat-sensitive element, mounted in a casing 1 having alternative connections 3, 7, 8 for the fluepipe. A bi-metallic damper 4 may have slots 6, so that pilot burner gases can pass to the flue. The alternative flue connections enable the flue to be inspected. In a modification, part of the damper 4 is a solid plate, the part secured to the housing being a slotted bi-metallic element carrying the plate. The bi-metallic element may have additional thermostatically - controlled heating element to open the damper when the temperature of the appliance reaches a predetermined temperature, as described in Specification 1,010,366.
