Abstract

1,010,212. Capacitors. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 15, 1963 [Feb. 20, 1962], No. 6249/63. Heading H1M. A solid electrolytic capacitor comprises an aluminium foil anode formed in a glycolammonia boric acid solution with a dielectric oxide layer, a glass fibre tape, and an etched cathode foil of copper, copper alloy, or stainless steel wound into a coil. The coil is postformed in citric acid solution, heated to remove the acid, and repeatedly impregnated in a solution of manganese nitrate in its water of crystallization which is then pyrolysed under reduced pressure at temperature increasing from 235‹ C. to 400‹ C. to produce a deposit of manganese dioxide on the glass fibre strip. The coil is then postformed twice in citric acid solution and heated to remove the acid.
