Abstract
968,162. Capacitors. TELEGRAPH CONDENSER CO. Ltd. Nov. 27, 1962 [Dec. 1, 1961], No. 44766/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1M. A solid electrolyte capacitor has a sintered tantalum anode which is anodized, impregnated with a solution of an oxygenous salt of manganese, e.g. the nitrate, pyrolysed to manganese dioxide; again anodized, impregnated, and pyrolysed; then coated with a viscous mixture of a solution of the manganous salt and a finely divided chemically pure silica; after which the anode is again pyrolysed to give a smooth outer layer. The latter coating and pyrolysis may be repeated. Thereafter the outer layer of manganese dioxide is coated with layers of graphite and metal, and canned. A lead is initially attached to the anode by welding or embedding during sintering.
