1,175,592. Electrolytic capacitors. LIGNES TELEGRAPHIQUES ET TELEPHONIQUES. 8 Feb., 1967 [20 April, 1966], No. 6076/67. Heading H1M. In the manufacture of a solid electrolytic capacitor having a low dissipation factor and good temperature characteristics, the semiconducting layer is formed by dipping the anodized porous tantalum or niobium anode into a solution containing manganese nitrate and another metal nitrate and pyrolysing to form a mixture of the corresponding oxides, the other metal being thorium or a metal of group 1A of the Periodic Table, particularly caesium, and the concentration of its nitrate being such that there is 1 to 2% by weight of the metal based on manganese. It is stated that the presence of the other metal possibly promotes the formation of #-manganese dioxide.
