Abstract

1,010,019. Tubular multi-ply containers. SONOCO PRODUCTS CO. Aug. 12, 1964, No. 32928/64. Heading B8D. [Also in Division B3] A container has a side wall formed of paper strip 14 wound helically with a laminate 17 of metal foil and paper, the side wall being scored at 31 to provide an annular formation capable of absorbing shock should the container be dropped on its end. A liner 16 of oil impervious material, which may also be a laminate of metal foil and paper in strip form, may also be wound with the side wall 14, the edges of the liner strip being buttwelded and sealed by a strip, Fig. 2 (not shown), on their inner side. The edges of the strip 17 are overlapped. Metal ends 12, 13 are seamed on to the side wall (see Division B3).
