Abstract
1,009,569. Peening; making moulds. SONCA INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 13, 1964 [May 28, 1963], No. 21376/63. Headings B3A and B3H. A patterned surface is formed on a body 10 by a spring-actuated peening tool 15 whose position is controlled by a template 21. In the production of a dimpled pattern on the parabolic surface 11 of a mould core 10 used for making aluminized plastic lamp reflectors, the core is mounted for stepwise rotation on a dividing head 12. Peening tool 15 is secured to a carrier 16 mounting a roller 23 engaging with the concave surface of a template 21 for maintaining the tool tip 17 at a constant distance from the surface 11. Mating grooves in the template 21 and carrier 16 enable the latter to be adjusted stepwise in a horizontal plane so as to be perpendicular to the surface.
