Abstract

1,008,840. Loading and unloading load lot containers. STEADMAN INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 18, 1962 [July 21, 1961], No. 26632/61. Heading B8E. A vehicle is provided with a pawl mounted on a member which by repeated reciprocating strokes loads or unloads a container such as on to the turntable of a rail vehicle. The vehicle chassis 38, Fig. 6, has a loading platform 33 and mounts a piston and cylinder 34, 35 mounting a pawl which is reversible in position so that it can engage a rack 37 of the container 32 to draw it on or push it off the platform 33. The container may be loaded o to rails 4, 5 of the turntable 1 of a rail vehicle The rails are resiliently mounted by springs 8, 8<SP>1</SP> so that it may tilt during loading. Wheele 7 and similar wheels at the edge of the container assist transfer without supporting the container when horizontal. The platform 33 may be of the rocking and tipping type provided with container locking devices as described in Specification 987,752.
