1,008,780. Ordnance trails. MINISTERO DELLA ESERCITO DIREZIONE GENERALE ARTIGLIERIA. May 23, 1960 [May 21, 1959], No. 44066/63. Divided out of 1,008,430. Heading F3C. A gun carriage has split trails 22 which are folded together to the position shown when the gun is to be towed. The draft gear comprises a bar 1 with a towing eye 17 and pivots 7 supporting hooked levers 8, these levers engaging rollers 9 on the trails 22. Semi-cylindrical shells 10 on the trails 22 embrace the bar 1 and are abutted by a bushing 19 threaded on the bar. In order to prepare for towing the levers 8 are engaged with the rollers 9 and then the bushing 19 is rotated by wings 11 to exert a force on the shells 10 whereby the levers exert a force on the rollers including an inwardly directed component to lock the trails in their folded position. The towing force applied to the eye 17 tends to increase the locking force. Arms 3 on the bar 1 co-operate with recesses 5 in the trails to prevent rotation of the bar.
