Abstract

1,008,681. Brush holders for dynamo electric machines. MORGAN COMPONENTS Ltd. July 22, 1964 [April 26, 1963], No. 40637/62. Heading H2A. Spring pressure is exerted on a carbon brush in a brush holder by a resilient member made of an elastomeric fluorocarbon synthetic resin, preferably " Viton " (Trade Mark). The resilient strip may be anchored to the holder and the free end secured to the brush under tension, or the strip may for a U-shaped loop with the bend around the top of the brush. The anchorages may allow the tension in the strip to be altered or alternatively an adjustable stirrup may be used to press on the brush. As shown, an endless loop of resilient strip passes around guides 25 and presses against the brushes which are in holders 20 and this arrangement may be modified for a plurality of brushes. In a further modification, a simple lever bears on the brush and has at its other end a part of the resilient material either in tension or compression.
