Abstract
1,008,564. Pneumatic separators. ESCHER WYSS A.G. Dec. 18, 1961 [Dec. 21, 1960], No. 45273/61. Heading B2H. In a distributer plate separator in which coarse and fine material, such as cement, is fed through a pipe 19 on to a rotatable distributing plate 9 so that the material is thrown outwardly of the plate 9 into an upwardly directed current of gaseous medium with the result that the coarse material descends and the fine material with the gaseous medium passes into a separating chamber 15, the gaseous medium, partly free from fine material, re-enters a distributing chamber 14, through orifices 17 having guide blades 18, and flows counterwise to the descending coarse material and provision is made for the introduction into the distributing chamber of an additional gas current which is free of dust and so guided as to flow counterwise to the coarse material stream. In the arrangement shown the additional gas current is supplied through a valve control pipe 26 to an annular duct 21 and passes upwardly through an annular gap 22 into the distributing chamber 14. The additional air may also be introduced to the chamber 14 by downwardly directed valve controlled pipe 37. A quantity of gas approximately equal to the quantity of introduced additional gas is removed through an annular gap 24 and a valve control pipe 28. The rotating disc 9 is provided with beating blades 12 and fan blades 13. A diplacement body 33 held in position by ribs 34 reduces the flow cross-section of the coarse material stream and the gas current directed counterwise to such stream. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), a rotary displacement body beneath the disc 9 carries a blower impeller at its lower end for the additional gas current to be provided to the separating chamber. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), a blower impeller is mounted directly beneath the disc 9 and is rotatable within a stationary displacement member provided in place of the body 33. The additional gas is supplied by a pipe extending upwardly within the stationary displacement body to the blower and from the blower downwardly within the stationary body and outside the pipe to orifices arranged in the stationary body below the orifices 17.
