Abstract

A polymer of an olefin is vulcanized by heating in the presence of an organic peroxide or an azo compound and a linearly condensed polyaromatic hydrocarbon containing at least three benzene nuclei, e.g. anthracene, naphthacene or pentacene. Optional ingredients include coal-tar products, fillers (especially carbon black), sulphur, stearic acid, metal salts, sorbic acid and furfural.
