Abstract

1,006,692. Textile treating apparatus; finishing fabrics. WEYERHAEUSER CO. Dec. 29, 1961 [March 6,1961], No46730/61. Headings D1L and D1S. [Also in Division B5) A fibrous mat is placed on a supporting grid 14 in a chamber 13 and heated by allowing short bursts of high pressure steam, about 125-150 p.s.i., into the chamber 13 through a steam line 30 to drive out any air in the chamber 13 through a drain 17, then passing low pressure steam, about 10-30 p.s.i., through a steam line 50 to heat the material. A small quantity of low pressure steam is bled into the chamber continuously through a steam line 60 to prevent large quantities of air from entering the chamber 13 and to keep it heated. The mat is placed in the chamber 13 through a door 20 operated by an air cylinder 24. There is an adjustable timing mechanism to control the opening of the door 20 and an opening of valves which operate the steam lines 30, 50, 60.
