Abstract

A conveyer, e.g. for grain, comprises an endless belt having an upper run 1 and a lower run 2, the upper run 1 running in a flute having side walls 3 and a bottom 4, Fig. 2, and having, intermediate the ends of the conveyer, portions 14 and 13, Fig. 1, which are laterally swingable away from the upper run 1, a scraper 22 being swingably mounted above the upper run 1 for movement between a position spaced from the latter and a position lying against it, and a deflector 35 being disposed above the lower run 2 of the belt for diverting material scraped from the upper run 1. The endless belt passes through a casing having walls 5, 6, 7 to the bottom of which is connected a discharge conduit (not shown). The flute portions 14 and 13 are pivoted on shafts 8, 9 and the scraper 22 is pivoted on a shaft 20; from the ends of the latter project arms 25 which are connected by means of universal joints 26 and links 27 to arms 28 which project from the shafts 8, 9. The shaft 20 has secured to it an operating lever 30 and has projecting therefrom an arm 31, Fig. 3 (not shown), which co-operates with a leaf spring 33 in a part dead centre manner to bias the scraper 22 to both its alternative positions. The tension of the spring 33 is adjustable by means of a set screw 32. The interconnection of the scraper 22 and the flute portions 14, 13 is such that when the scraper is spaced from the upper run 1 the portions 14, 13 are in the position shown by full lines in Fig. 1 and when the scraper is lying against the upper run 1 the portions 14, 13 are in the position shown by broken lines.
