Abstract
Veterinary compositions for internal or external parasiticidal usage in domestic animals contain, as active ingredient, 3-0, 0-dimethyldithiophosphorylmethyl benzoxazolone or the corresponding-benzothiazolone of formula:- <FORM:1006594/A5-A6/1> wherein X is oxygen or sulphur, together with a non-toxic solid, semi-solid, or liquid carrier. The compositions take the form of a tablet, pill or capsule, an ointment or cream, or a solution, suspension or emulsion, which may be sterile, or a syrup or elixis. Also they may be in the form of an admixture with a foodstuff, or a concentrate with a solid diluent, for addition to a foodstuff. Specified carriers are calcium carbonate, potato starch, alginic acid, lactose, or sucrose, suitably together with magnesium stearate; propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, vegetable oils (e.g. olive oil), ethyl oleate, talc kaolin or chalk; and toluene or xylene, or animal, vegetable or mineral oils together with surfactants, such as ethylene oxide/octyl phenal condensates, or ethylene oxide etherified fatty acid esters of anhydrosorbital. Compositions, as follows, are given in the Examples: (1) the active ester (25% w/o) in solution in diethylcarbital; (2) the active ester (20%) with ethylene oxide-octyl phenol condensate containing 10 mols ethylene oxide per mol. of octyl phenol (5%), and oleic acid-ethylene oxide condensate (5%) in a 4 : 1 by volume mixture of acetophenone and toluene.
